Day 63 – Reaching Out with Good News

There are plenty of sources of bad news. Sometimes it seems as if that is all there is. Everywhere we look reports of darkness and evil proliferate. Notwithstanding, despite the plethora of negativity, good news can still be found.  A kind word from/to a stranger. A chance encounter with a wild flower on a walk through the woods.  The radiant smile from a loved one.  We need these things to stay sane.

Spirituality has been the primary source of hope and inspiration since the dawn of human history.  Faith can sustain us, even at our most vulnerable, weakest points. For many millions, the Bible – in whatever iteration they turn to – provides needed comfort and encouragement. The word gospel is derived from the Anglo-Saxon term god-spell, meaning “good story,” a rendering of the Latin evangelium and the Greek euangelion, meaning “good news” or “good telling.” Brittanica
